Pandas


     Ailuropoda melanoleuca, or giant panda, are animals that are native to China. The giant pandas are actually bears. They have a diet that consist of bamboo. They are currently on the endagered list due to poaching and lost of habitat which leads to less food. There are only about 1,500 pandas left and there lifespan is about 20 years. One fact about them is that pandas can poop up to 40 times a day. Another fact is that female pandas are fertile only up to three days a year and they spend about 55% of their lives collecting, preparing and eating bamboo. They have lived on Earth for 2 to 3 million years and only one giant panda needs between 2.5 to 4 square miles of land to survive. Another fun fact is that a group of pandas is called an "embarrassment." Next fact is that they have one of the highest bite force of any carnivore and they also walk with their front paws turning inwards. Grown pandas have to eat up to 80 poundsof bamboo per day to meet their nutritionianal needs.
