by your side

         the distance is far away from where we are right this second said, my mother. my parents try to motivate me but i see right through them. they tell me that they love me and i look down and reply with i love you that comes not from the heart. this little girl will have a future say the parents before they sleep believing that because of them their little girl will be something great. the wind is strong and the love that the little girl wants leaves with it. this little girl is so bright but with no guidance, this brightness will turn to darkness. a girl is strong and stronger than a boy, a boy will puff his chest and the girl with her look will have won the battle. this girl has a dream to be something great and to soar through life but not knowing how to start was a challenge. parents would be at home but she felt invisible. she would look up to the sky and ask for someone to help her and to have someone to trust but her prayers would never be answered. a big family full of love but love that was never towards her. with no one to trust at home, she would trust other people very easily which at the time is what she thought she needed. not knowing who she was she continued with her life with no love. this brightness that was once there is fading in the stars that are up there looking down at this girl who can't find herself. day after day telling herself that she is happy but just lying to herself. friend after friend coming in her life and thinking that these friends will make her happy and in the end, she is at the same level of darkness. growing and growing into this young person and not knowing how to trust people because all the people she trusted failed her. people failing her and telling her that it was her fault when she is a girl who doesn't know one thing about herself. the whole family would watch movies together and feel like they were all bonding but the little girl still felt like no one understood her. they watch a movie with penguins and her family was joking around saying that they were all penguins because they will stay as a pack forever and love one another and never leave each other. everyone was laughing except the little girl, she gets angry that her family talk about love a lot but never shows her love from the heart. they use the word love very lightly and with no meaning. the girl runs outside and tells them that she will come back, she just needs to run. she takes off so fast that she gets tired not even a mile into her run. since she was a little girl she wanted to fly through life and here she is trying to run through it but is having a hard time. she stops at this hill and she sees this boy who looks to be around her age maybe a couple of years older and he tells her, "hello penguin", she immediately says why did you call me that? the boy tells her that she is trying to fly but she still doesn't know how to walk. he asked her why do you want to fly? she says because i want to leave this place i call home and a penguin can't fly so why would i want to be a penguin. he tells her that penguins lost their ability to fly millions of years ago but their flippers are so powerful. he tells her to stop looking at what she can't do and start looking at what she can do. you can't fly so why don't you walk and swim through life. it will be more difficult but why would you want life to be easy, there is no fun in that. embrace being a penguin. the penguin can't fly but yet gets through life. she takes it all in and looks up at the stars and she looks down and the boy is no longer there. it was a whisper in the wind that she needed to hear. she ran back to her home and her family were outside worried and were relieved when they saw her running back. she looked at her family and realized that because of them she is strong and motivated. the love she never got from them will one day be the love she transfers onto others. she is now the penguin who can't fly but who can still walk, run and swim. every time she got mad or sad she went for a run and every time she would hear that whisper in the wind. she would stop at the same place she saw the boy and she would hear someone talking to her. instead of telling you that you be alright, i will just be there by your side said the voice and she was confused because there was no one by her side. the voice told her that with time she will have someone by her side. she then replies with negativity and says that no one would want to be by her side? and the voice says penguin there is a time for everything, right now you feel alone but during this time you have to get to know yourself. be positive because negativity will always be there but with your positivity, all the negativity will be gone. she then ran back home and slept peacefully and went to school the next day feeling like a new person. she has a smile on her face and for the first time she has no negative thoughts in her mind. for almost a month she would go on that hill that she saw that boy and she listens to his voice and with his voice and words she is falling in love with herself and she had never felt love before. after school one day her friends asked her if she wanted to hang out and she did but she hadn’t missed a day running to that hill and listening to that boy’s voice so she said no and her friends all started making fun of her because she doesn't go anywhere so she said yes and she hung out with them for the rest of the day. it was reaching the time she usually goes for her run and she asks her friends to run with her to that hill she always goes to. they all agreed and they ran and ran and they got there and she tells them all the listen to the whispers of the wind and she told them that she always hears voices talking to her. they all look at each other and start listening but they hear nothing. they all start laughing at her and telling her that she is weird and that she will never be like them and called an uber and left her there. she sat down on the floor and she hears someone say, the second i felt that you were alone i felt the trouble that is in your veins said the boy. she gets mad and yells at the boy saying why didn’t you speak when my friends were here. the boy says even if i talked when they were here they wouldn't have been able to hear me. she asks why wouldn’t they hear your voice and he said that he is her guardian angel. she freaked out and ran home. she went to bed and heard his voice and he said that now she didn't have to run to that hill to listen to his voice. she asked him why were you given to me. he said that when he was her age he had everything taken from him and when he was alive he took life for granted until there was no life to be granted. he said that he was assigned to her because he never saw the light and he never felt love until he had no life and he wanted her to feel light and love during her life. she asked, what is your name? and he said, Uri. she was surprised with the name and asked what his name meant and he said that his name meant "my light". light is the only thing that can combat darkness and he said that he wanted to give his light that he never found during his time alive to her. my light is now your light whatever you do in this life you will always have my light by your side. don't take this beautiful life for granted and don't take all your struggles for granted. all those struggles will mold you into this mature beautiful woman that i know you will become one day. Uri told her that she will not hear his voice anymore but to know that he will always be by her side. she panicked and asked why she will never talk to him and Uri said that his job was done. he told her that because of her he earned his wings. before he was an angel with no wings but now he is an angel with wings and because of her he can now spread his lights to others. Uri always had this name but never knew the meaning of his name. he lacked light in his life that was full of darkness and the whole time his name meant his light. before he left he told her that she lacked self-love and love from others and her name is Aroha which means love. he told her that whenever she feels alone to always think of him and to keep moving forward and to not make the mistakes that he made. Uri the light of the world and Aroha the love which pours through the waters of the world. if you look into the distance there is a star in the sky that will guide you with its bright light of Uri.
