Frida Kahlo was born July 6, 1907 in Coyoacan, Mexico City, Mexico. She is known for her self portraits showing the suffering she endured throughout life. Kahlo was diagnosed with Polio at 6 and could no longer walk after a bus accident that nearly killed her at age 18. She was a pillar of the feminist movement and an inspiration to a new generation of artists. Kahlo passed in 1954 at the young age of 47. Throughout her life Kahlo never led her hardships keep her down.
