I am known to have a sweet tooth, but candy is not something I always crave; even though it is good, I prefer pastries. It's more of the sweet delicacy that pastries provide that I seek. There are many more options than just standard candy, like chocolates, gummies, caramels, lollipops, or taffy. Pastries cannot only be sweet, but they can be savory, too. You could add meat, cheese, or a spicy flavor. But perhaps you want more refreshing. Instead, you could add a refreshing complementary fruit like strawberries, which will be natural, unlike the excessive chemical dyes in your candy. However, you could also incorporate candy into a pastry if you want to. Some examples are cookies or adding a candy drizzle like caramel. With pastries, there is also a greater opportunity to mess around with texture, such as crunch, softness, firmness, and moistness. With so many various elements, it is always an explosion of flavors and consistency that candy cannot compete with.
