Imagine a day where you are really bored and it's close to Christmas. You've been practicing to not only play Silent Night for the big Christmas concert next week, but also to play Debussy's Rêverie for the big concert in May. You see the piano across you from the couch, and you think, "What if I combine them? What will that result in?" Using your left hand, you play the melody of Rêverie, and your right hand plays the verses of Silent Night. After some trial and error, the end result is something you didn't think you were capable of. That's exactly what Silent Nocturne is. When looking this up, the first one that appeared was from Israel and New Breed, which is good, but we know the one I'm looking at. The calming piano, the heavenly strings, and the vocals make this a transcending experience. Hands down one of my favorite Christmas songs.
(Honorable mention to God Rest Ye from the same collection. I feel like I'm having an epic battle to Christmas music. Also Jingle Bells. Come on. The jazz elements are just phenomenal. It's like 1950s' Christmas music revived and played now.)
