(If you haven't read the original My Music Journey(9-18-2023), go read that to fully understand this article. Got it? Great.)
Things have changed, and so have I. My journey hasn't reached "The End" yet. There was more after "...Blink came back to say hello." With Blink-182's brand new album "One More Time", some of Cody's first music resurfacing, and the plentiful Christmas songs (cause tis the season and that stuff), I thought that I'd do a part 2. This may be the first of many, but I'll try to restrict myself on sequels. So let's do this "One More Time".
We left off with me belting "I Miss You", Blink saying hello, and "The End", so that's where we'll start. The music video for one of The End's songs (Fine) released not too long ago, and it's depressing but real at the same time. It was a haunting song and video, but now we get to October 20th, the day after my parents' anniversary. That was the day the album "One More Time" released to the public. I originally heard the song "ONE MORE TIME" via the music video, and it made me feel like I was 9 hearing "I Miss You" for the first time. That day, one of my favorite YouTubers talked about his favorite songs from the album on a live stream for a no deaths run of Mario Wonder. I haven't listened to all the songs yet, but the ones I have I'll share. So starting with "ONE MORE TIME", it's this reflection song about what each of the 3 members have gone(Tom chased aliens for some reason, Mark went through and beat cancer, Travis survived a plane crash) through and how they are happy to be back despite wondering why all this had to happen to bring them back. "ANTHEM PART 3" is a bop, but a tad too "for mature audiences" for school. "BLINK WAVE" is a song that doesn't sound like it should be on the album, but it works. "TERRIFIED" is another good one, but I don't listen to it like crazy. The one that both of us agreed on is this: "MORE THAN YOU KNOW" is hands down the best song on the entire album. It's just so real and encapsulates my entire 8th grade year and his life in general. I'm even trying to learn the piano intro to play on the regular. If I could, I would so want to invite him to the July 6th concert at SoFi. But life has other plans.
Moving on to Cody, I heard some new songs from the Keswick album, a single called "That Thing That You Do", and a collab with Cory Wong called "Golden". The other thing I heard was his Christmas Collection album. Silent Nocturne? BEAUTIFUL. AMAZING. EVERYTHING. The piano, heavenly vocals, ghostly strings, it's just so good. God Rest Ye? Even though it's an instrumental, it's so good. It feels like background music in a battle and if anyone makes an animatic of it, you have my deepest gratitude. On the topic of Christmas, Blink-182 has good songs too. "I Won't Be Home for Christmas" has some, um, questionable lyrics at times, but it's great! "Not Another Christmas Song" is 'for mature audiences ONLY', but the chorus is the best part of the entire song, and the music video is funny as heck.
Overall, I think I'm in good hands with my music. Blink-182 is the embodiment of my rebellious nature and Cody Fry is the embodiment of my benign nature. People have 2 sides, but for me, I combine them and they make me who I am. I still have to practice the piano part for "MORE THAN YOU KNOW", but "Knowing What I Know Now" just released and I want to learn it for when I see Wish on my birthday weekend. I'm going to continue, but I hope you enjoyed this story.
