Op-Ed- The Nightmare Before Christmas: Halloween Movie or Christmas Movie?

As Christmas is approaching fast, everyone is already looking for movies to have a holiday movie watch party. One of the most popular movies during this time is The Nightmare Before Christmas from 1993. Unfortunately, some families get in a fight the minute this comes on. You have some screaming that this is a Halloween movie and others defending that it's a Halloween movie? That begs the question: Is Tim Burton's 1993 movie The Nightmare Before Christmas a movie for spooky season or Santa season?

I know many people that love this movie to death, and I'm no different. I loved this movie since I was a toddler. The songs, the vibe, and the story made me love this movie. Heck, I even went to the first night of The Nightmare Before Christmas Live at the Hollywood Bowl with my mom! I have the tote bag and magnet to prove it. I was watching a live stream of a watch party that my friend in Massachusetts was holding recently and it ended up as a sing along. My point is I've grew up on this movie and love it dearly. So I say that I, along with the people I mentioned, see this movie as a Halloween movie. "But wait. Aren't there people in your life that see this as a Christmas movie?" Yes, most of my Freshman class. They say this is a Christmas movie, and I don't get it. It's just Christmas propaganda, ladies! And my evidence for this being a Halloween movie? THE DIRECTOR AND THE SONG WRITER. Henry Selick, who directed the movie, and Danny Elfman, the music composer and Jack's singing voice, both said that this was a Halloween movie. So sorry Christmas people! Now argue in the comments if this movie is also a Thanksgiving movie.
