Many Americans have pets and incorporate them in their everyday lives. A hot take of mine is that pets (animals) should not be living with humans. I think animals can be very disgusting carrying many diseases and bacteria. Having them in your home brings all the outside stuff inside. In addition, you have to take care of them like a Human. You have to feed them, pick up after them, pay for health insurance. It overalls seems to much, therefore people should not have them. I think it is concerning when people use pets to fill in voids of being lonely. People could go out to seek human to human connect rather than relying on a pet. There are some understanding circumstances for people to get a pet but, I think it should consider it there last resort.
